A Miller boasts to the King that his daughter can spin straw into gold. Three times the King demands she does so, promising marriage. If she fails, her life is forfeit. Three times she despairs until Rumpelstiltskin appears, spinning straw into gold in exchange for a gift. The third time the girl promises her first born child to Rumpelstiltskin, should she be queen. Years later, the new queen bears a child and Rumpelstiltskin arrives for his gift. He will only relent if within three days the queen can guess his name...

A ballet without dancing, an opera without singing, a drama without speaking, Rumpelstilzchen is the Company's third feature film. Directed and produced by International Emmy Award-winning BalletBoyz Artistic Directors Michael Nunn and William Trevitt with Richard Jones, with music composed by David Sawer and movement direction by Sarah Fahie. The spellbinding fable is brought to life anew for the screen with an all-star cast including Jane Horrocks in the title role, alongside Tanya Reynolds, John Marquez, Daniel Francis-Swaby, Edward Davis, and Bailey Pepper.

Young Men

Young Men (2016)

Young Men, a feature length dance film without dialogue, was shot on location in Northern France featuring dancers from BalletBoyz dance company. Based on the hugely successful stage production that premiered at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2015, it was choreographed by Iván Pérez with a commissioned score by singer songwriter Keaton Henson.

Young Men received a nomination for the highly renowned Golden Prague arts award in 2017, and won the Rose d'Or in the Arts Category, which rewards originality, quality and creativity and sets the gold standard of excellence in entertainment programming.

The Making of Young Men

The Making of Young Men (2016)

The Making of Young Men is a 30 minute documentary featuring dancers from BalletBoyz dance company. The documentary follows the company and its Artistic Directors as they transform Young Men to become a feature length film, giving an insight into the creative process from stage to screen.

BalletBoyz at the Roundhouse (2015)

BalletBoyz won the 2013 National Dance Award for Best Independent Company. 

July 2014 saw their tour culminate in a special one-off performance at London's iconic Roundhouse featuring, for the first time, live music. Michael Nunn and William Trevitt present backstage interviews with the dancers during the show, studio documentary footage of the creation, and brief insights into the evening's many collaborators.

Included is Liam Scarlett's work Serpent with Max Richter's music, and Russell Maliphant's award-winning work Fallen with music by Armand Amar, with both pieces performed to live music played by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Broadcast 30 October 2015 on BBC4.

The legendary book, reinterpreted into a ballet by one of the most dynamic and inventive dance companies in the world for this one-off documentary.


The BalletBoyz use the ancient Indian Hindu text as the inspiration for a new piece of work. Led by a team of award-winning choreographers; Javier De Frutos, Paul Roberts and Fernanda Lippi, the programme follows the creative process and culminates in the work's first performance.

BalletBoyz: The Next Generation

BalletBoyz: The Next Generation (2011)

In 2009, award winning dance company BalletBoyz launched a new all-male dance company, handpicked from open auditions from a variety of dance backgrounds. Since then, they have become a worldwide hit with audiences, received rave reviews, have performed live to over 100,000 people and reached an audience in excess of 4 million through numerous TV appearances. Filmed over two years in the UK and on location in Ethiopia, the documentary follows the group as they travel to Addis Ababa to become the first UK dance company to perform in Ethiopia.

BalletBoyz: The Rite of Spring

BalletBoyz: The Rite of Spring (2009)

The BalletBoyz, Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, staged a radical new interpretation of The Rite of Spring. The production featured a mix of professional and amateur dancers, all drawn from radically different modern dance styles including tango, street and pole dancing. Following a brief selection process, the Boyz put together a unique company to perform this one-night-only showstopper.


The one hour performance documentary was part of the BBC Christmas 2009 season.

Strictly Bolshoi

Strictly Bolshoi (2007)

This intimate, multiple award-winning film (including an International Emmy and a Rose d'Or) follows the world's most sought after ballet choreographer, Christopher Wheeldon, in becoming the first Englishman to be invited to create a new work for the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow.

Light and Movement

Light and Movement (2006)

Produced by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, Light and Movement is a 30 minute documentary following the partnership between choreographer Russell Maliphant and lighting designer Michael Hulls for the performance of Rise and Fall.
