At BalletBoyz, we believe that everybody should have the chance to enjoy dancing – no matter who you are, or which school you go to. Over the past few months, all ten of our dancers, alongside specialist dance teachers Karl Morgan and Rebecca Trevitt, have been visiting Strathmore School – a special school with complex learning difficulties. We’ve been delivering weekly inclusive dance sessions, bringing the joy of dance into the school, whilst exploring inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration, and developing close partnerships between the students and BalletBoyz dancers.
As part of the project, we’ve also been working with eight students from Grey Court School, a local secondary school in Richmond. Throughout the project, these two schools were brought together for joyful dance sessions, culminating with the final performances to friends & family, fellow students and school governors on 30th June. This saw Strathmore and Grey Court Schools, along with the BalletBoyz, form one company to dance together, in a performance inspired by an ‘Around the World’ trip.
‘Dance Together is about dancing from the heart and bringing people together to dance. Dance breaks down barriers – we can all dance.’ – Karl Morgan, Dance Together Choreographer
