Six Lethargies

Music and dance come together in this haunting and enchanting emotional catharsis

How do trauma, memory, anxiety, and empathy live together in the body and the mind? BalletBoyz return with a visionary evening of sound and movement, chronicling a journey through six stages of emotional landscapes.

Six Lethargies is a pioneering composition for string orchestra by artist and composer Keaton Henson, who asks the question “if I write how it feels to me, will you feel it too?”. Experience this work in vivid colour as it is performed by a live 37-piece orchestra and paired with Michael Nunn and William Trevitt’s trailblazing approach to movement and dance. This brand-new piece by choreographers Iván Pérez and Seirian Griffiths invites audiences to experience a visceral evocation of where and how trauma manifests, and how it can find resolution.

Keaton Henson is a musician, composer, visual artist, poet, and long-time collaborator of BalletBoyz. He has released six studio albums to critical acclaim and played sold out shows around the world. Iván Pérez began his career as a dancer with Netherlands Dans Theater and has since then worked prolifically as a choreographer, including working with BalletBoyz on the critically acclaimed piece Young Men. Seirian Griffiths is a dancer, choreographer, and musician known for his practice of gravity mechanics. Now it its 25th year, BalletBoyz is a renowned contemporary dance company known for breaking down barriers in dance through innovative stage and screen work.
